The Pool Cue Bumper

The pool cue bumper is that little piece of rubber that prevents the cue from banging on the floor when you set your cue down after shooting. It's a pretty insignificant part of a pool cue, but if you have ever played with a stick that didn't have a bumper on the end, you knew what you were missing.

The bumper on many pool sticks is screwed onto the butt sleeve section of the cue. On others, it is a press fit into the bore hole on the butt sleeve end of the pool cue.
